RicohCookBook is a one-person site, run by Brendan. It collects very little and sells none of it, and there are no ad trackers. This page lists everything it keeps.
If you sign up for the emails
I keep your email address, which part of the site you signed up from, and when. It's used to send you the welcome email with the pocket cheat sheet and then the recipe emails, nothing else. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the emails at once; the address stays marked as unsubscribed so it never gets mailed again. If you'd rather it were deleted entirely, email me and I will.
If you send a photo
A photo you add to a recipe page is stored with the name and link you type in and the camera model it was taken with. Location data is stripped from the file before it's saved. Nothing goes public until I've approved it, and I'll take any photo down if you ask.
Keeping out spam
Signups, photo uploads and the admin login are limited per connection. To do that the site stores a scrambled one-way version of your IP address (a hash) with the time, never the address itself.
Counting what's popular
Saving a settings card or copying a recipe adds one to that recipe's count, with nothing about who you are. A gear Buy click records the product, where on the page it was, the camera picked and the country your connection is in. It doesn't record your IP address. Page views are counted by Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and shows only totals: pages, referring sites, countries and device types.
Stored in your browser
Your browser remembers which camera you picked and whether you've unlocked the recipe builder, so you don't have to choose again. That stays on your device and is never sent to the site.
Who handles it
The data lives with the services that run the site: Supabase (the database and photo storage), Resend (sends the emails), Vercel (hosting and the page-view counts) and ImprovMX (forwards mail sent to the site's address). Each only processes it to do that job. Buy buttons take you to Amazon and other stores, and creator links to their own sites; once you're there, their privacy policies apply.
Do Not Track and children
The site doesn't follow you across other sites, so a Do Not Track signal has nothing to switch off and every visitor is treated the same. It isn't aimed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect anything from them.
Questions, or to delete your data
Email hello@ricohcookbook.com to see what's stored about you, correct it, or have it deleted. If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
