Ricoh GR IV Monochrome recipes

The GR IV Monochrome is a black-and-white-only camera: a monochrome sensor with no white balance, no saturation and no hue controls. Every recipe on this page lists it as a compatible body, and each recipe page's loading walkthrough is written for the Monochrome's own menus.

The Monochrome names its Image Control presets differently from the color bodies - a card's Monotone loads as Standard, and Hard Monotone or Hi-Contrast B&W as High Contrast - so follow the walkthrough rather than the card's label. Tone curve, contrast, sharpness and grain carry over as written, and the white balance line is simply skipped. The camera also has two presets of its own, Solid and Grainy, that no recipe here is built on yet.

Most of these looks were created on a color GR, where black and white is a processing choice. On the Monochrome there is no color response to translate, so the tone curve is the whole recipe. Want more to try? The wider black & white collection lists every B&W recipe on the site.
