Ricoh GR IIIx accessories
The GR IIIx is a GR III with a 40mm lens, and that one difference decides which accessories are yours. Body parts are shared: the same DB-110 battery, SD cards, screen protector, lens cap, thumb grip and cases. Lens parts are not: the IIIx takes its own filter adapter, has its own wide conversion options, and it is the one GR that Ricoh's GV-3 finder is actually cut for.

The IIIx is also the best-served body for going wider. Ricoh's GW-4 screws onto the IIIx's GA-2 adapter and takes 40mm to roughly 30mm, and NiSi's kit gets to about 31mm with a locking adapter in the box.

Before you buy
- Battery and cards: DB-110 and full-size SD, same as the GR III.
- Filter adapter: Ricoh's GA-2, or NiSi's PR-12 MK II, which has a proper locking design. GR III and GR IV adapters do not fit.
- The genuine GA-2 is not on Amazon right now, so Ricoh's adapter shows no Buy button for the IIIx rather than one that opens the wrong part.
- Viewfinder: the GV-3 has 40mm framelines, made for this camera. It does not lock to the hotshoe - a strip of electrical tape under the foot is the community's fix.
- Universal cold-shoe finders come with 28mm or 35mm framelines, so on a IIIx they only approximate the frame.
Questions people ask
Do GR III accessories fit the GR IIIx?
Body accessories do: batteries, SD cards, screen protectors, lens caps, thumb grips, cases, straps and flashes are all shared. Lens accessories do not: the filter adapter is a different part (GA-2 instead of GA-1), and a viewfinder needs 40mm framelines rather than 28mm.
Can the Ricoh GR IIIx go wider than 40mm?
Yes, two ways. Ricoh's GW-4 was made for the GR III, but the community worked out that it screws onto the IIIx's GA-2 adapter and takes 40mm to roughly 30mm. NiSi's wide conversion kit is built for the IIIx: a 0.78x lens, about 31mm, with a locking adapter in the same box for well under half what the Ricoh lens alone costs.
Which viewfinder fits the Ricoh GR IIIx?
Ricoh's GV-3 is the one cut for 40mm. Owners who love it use it instead of the screen full time. Two honest warnings from people who own one: it is genuinely expensive, and it does not lock into the hotshoe, so more than one owner has had it slide out.
What battery does the Ricoh GR IIIx use?
The DB-110, the same cell as the GR III. It charges inside the camera over USB-C, and Ricoh's external charger for it is the BJ-11. The GR IV's DB-120 is a different battery.
