Ricoh GR III accessories
The GR III has been out long enough that the community has settled most of the accessory arguments: a cheap glass protector, one genuine spare battery, something on the wrist, and then the optional stuff - a hood or a cap, a filter adapter, a finder, the GW-4 wide lens. Almost everything here fits the GR IIIx too - the two share a body, a battery and a card slot. The exceptions are the parts that touch the lens: filter adapters are different parts for the III and the IIIx, and viewfinder framelines follow the focal length. The GR IIIx accessories page has those sorted for 40mm.

Before you buy
- Battery: DB-110, shared with the GR IIIx. The GR IV uses a different cell (DB-120) and the two are not interchangeable.
- Storage: full-size SD cards.
- Filter adapter: the GR III takes Ricoh's GA-1 or NiSi's PR-11 MK II. Both lock to the body.
- Wide: the GW-4 takes the 28mm lens to 21mm with no crop. It needs a GA adapter.
- Viewfinders: the lens is 28mm, so Ricoh's GV-3 (40mm framelines) is the wrong one. Ricoh's GV-2 and the universal 28mm finders are the match.
- The GF-2 flash mounts and fires on the GR III, at manual full discharge unless your firmware has the update that adds auto.
Questions people ask
What are the must-have accessories for the Ricoh GR III?
A tempered-glass screen protector, one genuine DB-110 spare battery, and something on your wrist - the in-box strap with a small O-ring is fine. Those three cover the ways a GR III actually gets hurt or lets you down: a scratched screen, a flat battery, a drop. Everything else is taste.
What SD card is best for the Ricoh GR III?
The SanDisk Extreme Pro is the community default, run without drama. The old advice that fast cards confuse the GR has quietly retired (firmware 1.42 also shipped an SD stability fix). The cheaper SanDisk Ultra has its fans too. Format the card in the camera and avoid sketchy third-party sellers.
Are third-party DB-110 batteries OK for the GR III?
They work, at about half the price, but the recurring complaints are shorter runtimes, loose fits and charge readings you cannot trust. The community's strong preference is one genuine Ricoh spare plus USB-C top-ups inside the camera.
How do I keep dust out of a Ricoh GR III?
Front glass is the community's usual answer. A slim stick-on filter adds no length and keeps the camera pocketable; a filter adapter with a screw-in filter, or a hood with glass, does the same job with more bulk. None of it is a guarantee, and the anti-filter camp will tell you any front glass risks a whisper of sharpness.
Does the GW-4 wide conversion lens work on the GR III?
Yes, that is what it was made for: 28mm becomes 21mm with no crop. It needs a GA adapter, and with a genuine Ricoh GA-1 the camera detects the lens and shows WIDE on screen.
