Ricoh GR IV accessories
The GR IV looks like a GR III, but almost nothing that touches the body carries over. It takes a new battery (the DB-120), a microSD card instead of full-size SD, and its own cut of screen protector, lens cap, thumb grip and filter adapter. Everything on this page is checked against the GR IV specifically, and every Buy button opens the GR IV listing.

Before you buy
- Battery: DB-120 only. The GR III's DB-110 does not fit, and Ricoh's charger for it is the BJ-12.
- Storage: microSD only, plus about 53 GB of internal memory. Full-size SD cards do not fit.
- Screen protectors, lens caps and thumb grips are cut per generation. III-era glass technically sticks to a GR IV, but it hangs over the edge.
- Filter adapters are per body: the GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV parts are not interchangeable. The GR IV part fits all three GR IV bodies.
- Wide: Ricoh's GW-4 takes 28mm to 21mm through the GA-3 adapter, and NiSi's GR IV kit lands about the same with a locking adapter in the box.
- The GF-2 flash launched alongside the GR IV and runs fully automatic on it.
- Viewfinders: the lens is 28mm, so Ricoh's GV-3 (40mm framelines, made for the IIIx) is the wrong one. Ricoh's GV-2 and the universal 28mm finders are the match.
Questions people ask
Do GR III accessories fit the GR IV?
Some do. Anything universal carries over: wrist straps, pouches, hotshoe flashes, cold-shoe viewfinders, and the GC-11 leather case, which Ricoh lists as one version for the III, IIIx and IV. Anything cut to the body does not: screen protectors, lens caps, thumb grips, filter adapters, batteries and chargers all have GR IV-specific versions.
What battery does the Ricoh GR IV use?
The DB-120, a new cell that is not interchangeable with the GR III's DB-110. It is rated at 1800 mAh, roughly 250 shots, and charges inside the camera over USB-C in about two hours or in Ricoh's BJ-12 charger. Buy genuine: third-party cells draw steady complaints about short runtimes and loose fit.
What memory card does the Ricoh GR IV take?
microSD only. The camera also has about 53 GB of internal storage, so a card is optional on day one. When the internal memory fills up, the SanDisk Extreme Pro microSD is the card GR IV owners converged on. Even a fast microSD buffers slightly behind the internal memory in burst shooting, so heavy burst shooters often shoot internal and offload to the card.
Can I use filters on the Ricoh GR IV?
Yes, through a 49mm adapter that mounts on the bayonet around the lens. Ricoh's own GA-3 locks mechanically, and third-party bayonet adapters cost less. That opens up ND, polarizer and diffusion filters. The adapter fits the GR IV HDF and GR IV Monochrome too; just skip the diffusion filters on an HDF, which has that built in.
Can the Ricoh GR IV go wider than 28mm?
Yes. Ricoh's GW-4 wide conversion lens mounts through the GA-3 adapter and takes 28mm to 21mm with no crop; with the genuine GA-3 the camera detects it and shows WIDE. NiSi's GR IV wide kit does the same job for well under half the price and ships with its own locking adapter. Both are on the wide conversion lenses page.
Does the Ricoh GR IV need a thumb grip?
Less than the GR III did. Owners note the new body's deeper grip makes one less necessary, and any thumb grip occupies the hotshoe. If you shoot one-handed a lot it is a cheap experiment - just buy the version cut for the GR IV.
