Portrait recipes

A GR is not the obvious portrait camera - 28mm is wide, and even the IIIx's 40mm is no portrait lens - but it is the camera that is there when someone you like is standing in good light. These are the recipes the community tags for people: looks that are kind to skin instead of fighting it with hard contrast.

Most are built on Negative Film or a softened Positive Film: muted highlights, pastel color, a gentle tone curve. Reggie's Color Negative, one of the most-saved recipes on the site, lives here - it is shot through a diffusion filter for extra glow, and its page lists the filter and the adapter it needs.

On a GR IV, expect a slightly warmer, brighter rendering than the GR III most of these were made on. That usually flatters skin; if a look runs too warm, a small white-balance nudge toward blue pulls it back.
