Ricoh GR ring caps
Every GR ships with a plain ring around the lens. It twists off - that is where a filter adapter or a hood mounts - and swapping it for a colored one is the oldest GR customization there is: a few dollars, ten seconds, and the camera looks like yours.
It is also a spare. JJC sells its rings partly as replacements for people who have lost the original, which tells you how often that happens. The one thing to get right is the size: the GR III, the GR IIIx and the GR IV family each take a different ring.

Before you buy
- Sizes follow Ricoh's part numbers: GN-1 for the GR III, GN-2 for the GR IIIx, GN-3 for the GR IV, GR IV HDF and GR IV Monochrome.
- They are not interchangeable - a GR III ring does not fit a GR IIIx, and neither fits a GR IV.
- The ring comes off whenever you mount a filter adapter, a hood or a wide conversion lens.
- Each listing carries several colors, so the Buy button opens one and you pick the rest there.
- Ricoh sells genuine GN rings too, at roughly two to three times the price of the JJC ones.
Questions people ask
Which ring cap fits my Ricoh GR?
GN-1 size for the GR III, GN-2 for the GR IIIx, and GN-3 for the GR IV family (GR IV, GR IV HDF and GR IV Monochrome). Third-party rings are sold by the same sizes - look for 'replaces GN-1', 'GN-2' or 'GN-3' in the listing. The Buy buttons on this page open the right one per camera.
Does a GR III ring cap fit the GR IIIx?
No. The two cameras share a body but not a lens, and the ring follows the lens. JJC's GR III listing says outright that it is not compatible with the GR IIIx, and its GR IIIx listing says the reverse.
Why do Ricoh GR ring caps fall off?
The ring is a twist-off bayonet part by design - it has to come off for adapters and hoods - so a knock in a pocket can work it loose. That is why a spare is worth having, and why third-party makers market theirs as anti-lost replacements.
