Ricoh GR thumb grips

A thumb grip slides into the hotshoe and gives your thumb a ledge, for a firmer one-handed hold. Honest warning: no accessory divides the GR community harder. It runs roughly fifty-fifty between people who say it transformed one-handed handling and people who say it blocked the controls and came straight off.

Hand size is usually the deciding variable. It is a cheap experiment either way - the one rule is to buy the version cut for your model, so it clears the dial and the power button.

Is a thumb grip worth it on a Ricoh GR?

If you often shoot one-handed on a GR III or IIIx, probably - that is where the fans are. The common complaint is that it makes the power button harder to reach. It costs little enough that the answer is to try one and see which camp your hand puts you in.

Does a GR III thumb grip fit the GR IV?

No. JJC makes separate versions - the TA-GR3 for the GR III and IIIx, the TA-GR4 for the GR IV family - each cut to clear that body's dial and power button. The Buy buttons here open the right one for your camera.

Can I use a thumb grip and a flash together?

No. Both mount in the hotshoe, and the GR only has one. The same goes for an external viewfinder.
