Sedona

Watch the original video

A loud, warm Positive Film recipe made for hard desert sun on the GR IV HDF. Saturation is at +4 and Hue at -4, so red rock, blue sky and greenery all come out bolder than real life, and the white balance leans heavily amber and green on top of that. The highlight diffusion filter stays on to soften midday glare.

From the creator

She built the first version for a trip to Sedona and still calls it her Sedona recipe; the settings here are the updated version she shoots now. It is made for bright sun: deserts, beaches, mountains, harsh midday light. By her own account it stops working when the light goes flat, in cloud, shade or indoors. Skin can come out very red, especially near red rock. Her two fixes are to drop exposure compensation to -0.3 or -0.7, or to ease Hue back to -2.

Camera compatibility

Originally created for the GR IV HDF - popular on the GR IV too. Every value dials straight in; the presets and settings are identical across bodies. The GR IV's newer sensor renders a touch warmer and brighter, so treat this as a starting point, not a guaranteed match; if it looks too warm, a small white-balance nudge toward blue brings it closer.
